Brickfilm Review: Assault on Arbra by 99JediDrew

Hello readers. Sorry it's been a while as TheBrickUpdate went down for a while... Anyway, I'm here with a new brickfilm review. This time, it's on Assault by Arbra, a comedic yet action-packed Star Wars short by 99JediDrew, who has recently hit the 500 subscriber mark.

This film is an entry for Pizzamovies' contest (closed), and so focuses on pizza. But it starts off with the Clone commander struggling to drink tea with his helmet on, which is quite funny. Then the other troopers explain what pizza is and suggest ordering it from Dominoes or Captain Rex's Rocking Pizza Palace! But before they can order it, a pilot gets shot by some Super Battle Droids while he is on his way to get the Commander more tea!

A large and impressively animated battle ensues! There are plenty of shots flying everywhere. Something I don't like is when there are only ever a couple of shots in a battle and whenever they focus on a Clone or a Droid, only the Clone or the Droid seems to be firing - no other shots can be seen! It doesn't make the battle look very interesting. But luckily that is not the case here, as 99JeciDrew has plenty of shots from both sides, and often changes angle to make the battle look even more exciting! I won't say who won the battle but the best bits for me were when the Droid commander fell into a pond and there was a well-animated splash and also when a Clone tank was blown up and blasted into the camera, turning the screen black!

Overall, then, this film is a nice combination of action and comedy, with some great effects and animation thrown into the mix. The voice-acting is nice too! Some of the comedy falls a little flat though, and I really wanted to see Captain Rex's Rocking Pizza Palace! This is definitely a contender in Pizzamovies' contest!

Effects: 9/10
Animation: 10/10
Comedy: 6/10
Overall: 8.5/10 Excellent!
